Outdoor Activities in Alanya
Alanya’s beaches are places of both leisure and history. The main beach is Cleopatra’s Beach, a name with obvious allusions to the legends surrounding Mark Anthony’s courtship with the Egyptian queen. The beach is large and beautiful, but becomes very crowded in summer.
From here, other beaches and a host of caves and coves are easily accessible by boat. Korsanlar Magarasi (Pirates’ Cave) and Asiklar Magarasi
(Lovers’ Cave) continue the themes of romance and treachery, and are two of the most popular off-beach destinations. One can either make use of a tour boat or hire a private boat.
The Alanya International Triathlon is a fairly recent addition to the town’s activity offerings. The event takes place in the cooler weather of October.
Other activity options are basketball, handball and beach volleyball.
