Nature of Yalikavak
Yalikavak’s hills offer breathtaking views of the surrounding areas, including the bays of Tilkicik, Pasa and Agacbasi, and the lower bay of Yalikavak itself.
The name Yalikavak means “poplars by the sea”, but these tress are in fact plane trees, and there are plenty of them. They unwittingly attest to Yalikavak’s generous fresh water supply and healthy co-existence with humans.
Yalikavak provides a sanctuary for the Monacus Monacus seal that once populated the entire Mediterranean, and whose survival has come under threat.
Yalikavak’s fairly mountainous terrain is best enjoyed by hiking or horseback riding.
