Introduction to Gumusluk
Located 25 km from Bodrum, Gumusluk offers a truly authentic experience of the peninsula. One of the oldest settlements on the Bodrum Peninsula, the town has managed to avoid the tourist mainstream, and is ideal for those in search of a tranquil holiday setting.
“Gumus” is the Turkish word for silver. Nobody knows for certain why Gumusluk is called by its name. A popular theory is linked to the history of Myndos: at its height, the city manufactured its own silver coins. Another theory has to do with the common sight of the moon’s bright reflection on the water.
Gumusluk is most popular for its string of laid-back fish restaurants on the water whose offerings enjoy a reputation as far away as Istanbul.
