Costa del Sol
Few regions are as accustomed to the presence of tourists as the Costa del Sol, which annually welcomes millions of holidaymakers from around the world.
But while urbanisation has of course been a feature of the region's modern history, it remains a beautiful part of the world, with pristine shores and a scattering of charming towns and villages.
Malaga is very much the gateway to the Costa del Sol, but there are dozens of accessible Mediterranean coastal towns that are equally popular. Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella and Puerto Banus are among the most notable resorts along this famous coastline and all offer a great deal to holidaymakers, homebuyers and investors alike.
In recent years, the Costa del Sol has gained a particularly impressive reputation for the quality of its golf courses, many of which are in an immaculate condition despite the high temperatures.
La Cala Resort in Mijas, for instance, has three sensational golf courses and Cabopino Golf Club in Marbella offers outstanding views of the sea.
There are inevitably numerous high-rise hotels situated around the Costa del Sol, but quaint whitewashed villas are also available, many of which are just a stone's throw from the beach.
