Costa de la Luz
This breathtaking section of the Andalusian coast looks out to the Atlantic Ocean and it has emerged in recent years as a huge growth area for tourism.
Beach connoisseurs will observe that the sand here is finer than that found around the Costa del Sol, but also that the sea can be a little cooler.
The Atlantic Ocean has also made this coastline popular with watersports enthusiasts and visitors are likely to find surfboarders and windsurfers perfecting their skills at all hours of the day.
With a more natural feel than some of its neighbouring areas, the Costa de la Luz has not traditionally been a favourite with international travellers. While Spanish citizens have long enjoyed its unique charms, holidaymakers from abroad have generally flocked to the more familiar Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol.
This is beginning to change, however, and the trend is likely to have a considerable impact upon the property market in the region.
With golf courses including Valderrama and ancient ruins to rival any in Spain, this is a truly diverse part of the country that can expect to attract a great deal of interest in the years ahead.
