Stretching 200 kilometre down Spain's eastern coast, the Costa Blanca is among the most popular holiday destinations in the world.
Benidorm tends to steal the headlines, but the resorts on the Costa Blanca are hugely diverse in nature and all offer something slightly different scenically.
This incredible coastal region belongs to the province of Alicante and it attracts millions of tourists every year. Theme parks, nature reserves, beautiful beaches and charming villages all add to the appeal and property investors have snapped up properties at an incredible rate.
Denia is the coast's northernmost town and Torrevieja can be found in the south. The two regions are quite distinct, with mountains and farmyards in the north and a flatter landscape in the south.
Pubs, clubs and high-rise hotels make certain parts of the Costa Blanca extremely popular with young holidaymakers. Ports such as Moraira, however, boast ancient quarters that typically attract a completely different type of traveller.
Alicante itself is well worth a visit, with an attractive port and thriving cosmopolitan atmosphere. But the Costa Blanca is an area that cannot be reduced to a simple description and visitors are advised to investigate some of the less famous corners to fully understand the region.
