IRISH ENTER PORTUGUESE PROPERTY MARKET

Lifestyle buyers from Ireland are increasingly choosing to purchase holiday homes in Portugal, a newspaper has revealed.

According to the Irish Independent, many second home buyers have been drawn to the European country by its good climate and attractive scenery.

The newspaper also highlighted the lack of overdevelopment in places such as the Algarve as another of its main attractions.

This, it stated, makes it more preferable to some neighbouring countries, as it is not afflicted by "unsightly overdevelopment".

"Portugal is now one of the most popular European countries for Irish second home owners," the newspaper commented.

The Irish Independent added that the good transport links between Ireland and Portugal have also helped it to become a favourite among overseas property buyers.

Portugal was recently recommended to investors by the SaveBorrowSpend website.

The online portal recommended the Silver Coast region because it offers both attractive scenery and affordable property prices.
