History of Saidia

Saidia was founded by the Arabs in 1548. They left their mark in the form of several mosques. The city was captured by Sultan Hassan I in 1881. In 1913, it was placed under French protectorate and turned into a resort town. Saidia has successfully retained this character and, with the current expansion in the area, it looks set to become one of the main tourist destinations in the north.
