Cuisine and Eating Out in Marrakech
Marrakech probably has the most and the best restaurants in Morocco. The split between local and international dishes is fairly even. The medina has plenty of inexpensive cafes, while a treat is to spend an evening in one of Marrakech’s “riad” (mansion house) restaurants. Although pricy, these establishments offer delicious traditional meals. The riads are also concentrated in the medina part of town.
The most well known local dish is “tangia”, lamb or beef that has been left to slow cook in an earthenware pot over hot ashes for an entire day.
