NEW FLIGHTS SET TO BOOST CYPRUS TOURISM

Cyprus could be set to see a boost to its tourist industry with the introduction of new flights from the UK.

British Airways' new service between London Gatwick and Paphos will begin operating daily from the beginning of July.

This means that the Mediterranean island will be likely to see a greater number of holidaymakers from Britain over the summer.

As a result, there will be increased demand for rental accommodation in many tourist hotspots, therefore creating new opportunities for investment buyers.

"Paphos is very popular with UK travellers," commented British Airways spokesperson Marianna Trokoudes.

"We feel this service will be very well received in Cyprus and in the UK."

British Airways already operates one daily service between Larnaca and Heathrow Airport.

The carrier stated that the introduction of an extra route demonstrated its "ongoing commitment" to the country.

Earlier this week, the island adopted the single European currency.
