Britons are using their trips abroad as an opportunity to take in new experiences, an expert has said.
Claire Lilley of Holiday Which? magazine stated that people were less content to spend their holidays lying on a beach since they now went overseas more frequently.
This was said to have resulted in a growing desire to take part in new activities and to go to countries they had never visited before.
Although established markets such as Spain were identified as consistently popular holiday destinations, other parts of Europe were found to be attracting a growing level of attention.
Ms Lilley commented: "Eastern Europe is still booming - places like Bulgaria and Turkey are on the agenda a lot more."
This could mean that these two countries become more popular with overseas property buyers, as their growing appeal could make them potentially lucrative markets for investors.
According to a recent poll by A Place in the Sun magazine, Turkey is currently the third most popular market among buyers from the UK.
