EMERGING MARKETS 'APPEAL TO BRITONS'

Emerging property markets are becoming more popular with British investors, experts have said.

Currency specialist HiFX stated that an increasing number of Britons were choosing to put their money into other countries, including less-established locations.

This was said to be partly due to their affordability in the face of rising house prices in the UK.

Britain's recent house price boom has made it increasingly difficult for many people to get on the housing ladder, which has led to some considering alternative means of purchasing assets.

Mark Bodega, marketing director at the firm, commented: "With the property price issues in the UK, more and more investors are now looking overseas to the emerging markets and hotspots."

Earlier this month, a study commissioned by Overseas Property Professional magazine found that emerging markets such as Croatia were highly popular among younger buyers.

The research by Datamonitor also revealed that a growing number of people in this demographic were looking at investing in Brazil and Egypt as well.
